Someone here mentioned that President Clinton could run again. I believe he could run as Vice-President and succeed someone to the Presidency if the President was unable to serve. However, the 22nd amendment prevents him from being elected to two terms as President.

"Amendment XXII

Section 1. No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term."

However, if one reads section 1 completely, it gets a little murky.

I do not think Gore can serve effectively if he was elected after all of the past several weeks. I never thought the shrub could serve period. They could ensure their place as patriots if they both conceded.

Then I believe it would go to the House of Representatives--without looking at the Constitution--and the Speaker, Hastert (something like that) could server as President. Gepheardt could server as Vice-President in the spirit of bi-partisanship. I think that is a fair way of settling this.
