Wood heat ...

I didn't think about it, but I wasn't thinking about wood as a primary heat source, but more of a hobby heat for pioneer wannabe urbanites living at the edge of town.

Probably more useful as a method of getting rid of fallen branches than a cost saving way of staying warm. Many heat the garage or shed with wood because it doesn't need electricity and the necessary wiring. (And building permit, inspection, and tax re-assessment. (Always up!))

Speaking about getting rid of unwanted stuff around the property, I heard on the radio about chicken farmers raising alligators. It seems alligators like to eat dead chickens, and as such, make an excellent disposal method. I never thought about it, but dead chickens just couldn't be put in regular trash, and they are an awkward size: Too big to ignore, too small to use usefully. Probably rot and breed disease quickly too. However, it remained unsaid what these farmers did with the alligators beyond feeding them chickens. Imagine if they escaped? Would they all run down to the nearest Colonel Sanders? Probably not be big on fries or cole-slaw either.

Cheers, PW.

P.S. I saw a program on TV about alligators a few days ago. Then they opened their mouths, I couldn't help wonder if they bought their dental-floss in bulk.
