Thanks Peter (and Bob L. and opalapril). The complexity and weirdness, or is it complexness and wierdity, of this 'thing' is numbing. A more on-topic note: I've been in contact with Schwab twice over the past couple of business days. They are being swamped by margin calls and the pace is not abating. I asked some questions about the process of maintenance calls and one interesting fact came to light: if an account is in arrears, and a check or other withdrawal is presented, the account must be brought into compliance by 11:15 a.m.(eastern) or SEC governed actions will be triggered. I would imagine most investors would not want such indiscriminate selling in their account; thus it seems that most margin-corrective activity will be occurring between 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. . My guess is there is a huge amount of this activity occurring. Perhaps all of us need to take this into consideration when contemplating trades over the next week or so.
