Bush didn't "decline" Gore's "offer" of a statewide recount.
The so-called offer was made when it was too late to request it. Consequently, the "offer" was meaningless.

I had no objection to Gore's initial requests for recounts
because he was entitled to make those requests.

What I object to is what he's put this country through ever since. At this point, it's time to be a statesman and let it go. There is simply no way to recount anything and produce an "accurate" result at this point that anyone will believe.

I am also dismayed at the race card being played. This is a time to start healing the country, not to divide it further.
It seems that when matters devolve to the race card, it's like capitulation selling in the market. The end is near.
