Well, despite the fact that I have been a sick little monkey, I did watch the fights.
Christy Martin is tough. Of the women who I have seen fight, I don't think anyone can beat her. That includes Laila Ali and the chick who posed for playboy. In the past, I have said that I didn't really enjoy the women's fights, if all of the women fought like that, I could change my mind. Wow!
I always enjoy watching Joppy fight. There is something about his look that is understated, but he is one hell of a boxer.
I know that I am mixing up nights her, but anyone tell me why the Barrera fight wasn't the headline??? I look forward to the Hamed v. Barrera fight..Oh yea
Trinidad v. Vargas.
I did underestimate Trinidad. And like some of the other assessments, I did think that Vargas didn't hurt his reputation one bit, despite the loss. Trinidad was picking Vargas off with that quick jab for the first couple of rounds. But once Vargas got the timing, he seemed to be able to evade a bulk of the jabs thrown. I would love to see a rematch. With a little more experience, Vargas is going to be tough to beat. I must say, that much of the reason that I picked Vargas is because I don't like Trinidad. I find that he has little humility and never shows any respect to the other fighter after he wins. He always comes back with something like "I am a great champion, and I knew that I would win". Of course, this doesn't take away from his ability, but it certainly makes it so I want to see somebody clean his clock. |
