Nextel Named "Official Wireless Communications Sponsor"
BEDFORD, Mass., Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Nextel Communications NXTL announced today that it has been chosen as the "Official Wireless Sponsor" of the National League of Cities Conference to be held in Boston December 5-9, 2000.
The City of Boston will be hosting the National League of Cities (NLC) Congress of Cities and Exposition and expects approximately 9,000 elected officials, national leaders and their families to attend this prestigious gathering. Boston last hosted this event in 1988; last year's event in Los Angeles drew more than 7,500 attendees.
Established in 1924, the NLC is the country's oldest and largest national organization representing municipal governments throughout the United States. With a membership of more than 1,700 cities and towns, as well as 49-state association of cities, NLC serves as a resource and advocate for 18,000 U.S. cities.
This five-day event will include leadership training seminars, workshops, policy committee meetings and a two-day exposition at The Hynes Auditorium. The conference sessions will delve into ways that municipal workers are working to strengthen and promote cities as centers of opportunity, leadership and governance.
