The other alternative is that SPINCO will be a joint venture of TXN and QCOM . Between the two they would be able to develop the software and chipset market for mobile devices worldwide ( any flavor ).

I agree that that is a possible outcome. If that does happen, QCOM will have to change its current stance of selling part of Spinco and eventually relinquishing the rest of the shares to QCOM shareholders.

Another alternative to spinning off Spinco in the public markets is to make a direct sale of the shares to TXN. Yet another alternative is to simply have an agreement to jointly develop products. Considering the five-year cross-licensing agreement, my guess is that the last alternative is most likely in the form of an expansion of the cross-licensing agreement.
