Just because Bush squeaked out victory doesn't mean he's that exemplary a candidate. He's good on the campaign trail but when it comes to substantive talk he's borderline embarrasssing. He was heavily coached before the debates. That's why he did well. Expect Cheney to do a lot of the talking for him. Remember, until age 43 GW was pretty much a slacker. He has a lot of homework to do and he's not much of a reader. In fact they say he's dylexic. Which his brother Neil is as well. And he was also an alcolholic for a long time. Still he was the best face the GOP could put up there with the most money behind him. And image, personality and money count more than substance these days. That's for sure. Otherwise Gore would be a shoe-in.
