Here is my thought about why the Supreme Court was able to get a unanimous decison to send it back, and I don't know what my batting average has been but I've been at least close some of the time - I think it's the judicial version of the Trojan Horse. Definitely a trap for the unwary.

I find the timing, almost the precision, of the falling dominoes to be fascinating.

Click - the Florida Supreme Court grants an extension of time to Gore for the recount.

Click - the U.S. Supreme Court grants cert.

Click - the Florida Legislature appoints a special committee to decide whether to hold a special session.

Click - Judge Sauls refuses to count the ballots before the hearing, also allows into the contest intervenors who argue that a statewide recount is needed, otherwise the statute is unconstitutional.

Click - oral argument before the US Supreme Court, justices questions focus on what exactly the Fl. S.Ct. was thinking.

Click - Fl. S.Ct. finds Butterfly Ballot constitutional.

Click - Fl. S.Ct. denies mandamus to Sauls to count the ballots before the hearing.

Click - 11th Cir. schedules oral arguments on manual recounts.

Click - Hearing before Judge Sauls, Gore's witnesses self-destruct.

Click - The U.S. Supreme Court vacates and remands the Florida Supreme Court.

Click - Judge Sauls rules against Gore.

Out of all these dominos, the only one that has fallen for Gore was the first opinion by the Florida Supreme Court.

Everything hinges now on Judge Nikki Clark. Will she throw out thousands of absentee ballots because the Republican staffers filled in the missing voter ID numbers so the county election board staff could mail ballots to the absentee voters?

Tune in tomorrow, same time, same place.
