All have been discussed at length in the past. For example, it was the impression of the reporter that Bush was going to say more about his brushes with the law when his campaign manager intervened and whisked him away. As I said, I believe he regarded it as a ticket, not an arrest, and that he probably did not recall going to court. Details like that are often lost when one doesn't think about something.

I have sometimes asserted things erroneously when I had no motive to lie. Once, when I was home from college for winter break, I got together with a friend from college for a date. Over dinner, she said that she had felt a tad guilty, she had not picked up a book since being home. In an agreeable mood, I said:"I know what you mean, I haven't read anything either...." Then I glitched, and remembered:"Oh my god, I actually have read 9 books since I have been home, but they have mostly been science fiction and celebrity biographies, and so I honestly felt I had not read anything."

Just to touch on another matter, it is perfectly possible that Bush went through an extended period where he not drinking much, but that it didn't last. It is presumptuous to accuse him of lying......
