Seems you have a pretty selective take on the qualities of many of the immigrants who came here over since the 1600's. Beyond a doubt the US has benefited from bringing in the cream of the crop from other nations.

But how many superior Chinese came here vs those who came as almost slave laborers. Take a look at the masses that came through Ellis Island, they do not look like the cream of the crop to me. Saying that the natural selection indicates the slave traders caught a disproportionate number of dimwits seems like a convenient excuse for the condition of poor blacks after 100 years of discrimination since freeing of the slaves.

The law of force brought the slaves here and held them back for many years. I think since 1970 or so the failure to succeed has allot more to do with capability, desire and luck than discrimination. My only big concern about a level playing field is with education in poor areas. I believe there are many areas of the country where poor districts provide substandard education and until this is corrected the playing field will not be equal.

The genetic component factoring intelligence is very valid, but it is not the only factor. The education system, family and local environment are also a critical factor.

I see no reason a below average intelligence person being raised in a stable home and attending a decent school system cannot have the American dream. But this dream has to be earned and for those with less than average intelligence they may have to work a little harder.
