Ed,

SAN management softwares are getting more robust as we speak. It is the last piece of the puzzle to make SAN a more complete system.

I expect Highground's SRM (storage resource management) software to support multiple platforms, i.e. UNIX, Linux, NT, attached consoles. It should be open standard, i.e. standard SNMP traps, 'standard MIPs'. However, I do expect it to be more SUN friendly, lol. It will seemlessly manage all SAN resources within a SUN environment. It is really much harder to accomplish this goal with other vendors such as Veritas and Legato. An inhouse division is way overdue. I don't believe selling this management software is their number one goal . IMO it is to beef up their end to end solution provider status. I guess with this deal now CPQ, MSFT, BRCD will own some SUN stocks instead of HG stocks. May be I should go buy some SUN stocks.
