If anything, they might even be angrier at Bush for getting the USSC to publicly rebuke them.

Actually Bush had nothing to do with sending that back down to the FSC. If you listen to the pundits, and some of the call in lawyers on C-span, you'll see that the USSC has sent the FSC a subtle insult, asking them to further clarify how they interpreted the law there to derive at their ruling.

In effect, the USSC has implied that the FSC acted acted politically and not strictly in adherence with the law.

And the FSC will now be more gun-shy about how far they go in "interpreting" the law (more like legal legislation, imo). Especially with regard to overruling Judge Sanders Sauls ruling against Gore on the recount issue.
