IBM to Resell NEON Adapter Libraries
DENVER, Dec 5, 2000 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- New Era of Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: NEON chart, msgs), a leading e-Business integration software provider, today announced that IBM will be reselling adapter libraries provided by NEON.

NEON Adapters are compatible with IBM MQSeries(R) Integrator, an integration server jointly developed by the two companies. NEON has provided base technology and products complementary to the IBM MQSeries product line for several years. With this latest combination of the strengths of IBM and NEON, customers will get the best and broadest adapter technology available. NEON Adapters are also compatible with IBM WebSphere Business-to-Business (BtoB) Integrator(R). NEON's Adapter libraries benefit customers by speeding up time to implementation for e-commerce applications. These Adapters rely on the strong process routing and transformation capability of NEON's and IBM's integration server technologies such as e-Biz Integrator(TM), e-Biz 2000(TM), MQSeries Integrator and WebSphere.

"Our customers use Adapters to get their e-commerce applications on the air sooner," said NEON CEO Rick Adam. "Example implementations are self-service application servers being integrated with order processing or procurement being integrated to a B2B exchange. When the focus is customer self-service, supply chain optimization, or B2B connectivity, our clients demand quick time to implementation."

"NEON's Adapter technology has proven to be a critical part of our customers' success with MQSeries Integrator," said Bill Reedy, IBM vice president of marketing, business integration. "With our latest agreement, we can ensure that our customers can connect to third-party packages quickly and easily. This will enable IBM to accelerate sales and growth of both MQSeries Integrator and WebSphere."

Corporations today must maintain complex computing infrastructures to service the informational needs of the organization. Many of these systems were developed and implemented long before there were any commercial implementations on the Internet, yet the information maintained by these legacy systems is critical to the success of any new e-Business strategy. Furthermore, most of the new packaged software systems installed today are not designed to communicate effectively among themselves nor with many of the "home grown" legacy systems found in every corporation.

Because every organization needs to compete more effectively in today's electronic economy, new information access requirements are needed to meet the goals of corporate strategists. Highly controlled and secure data from within the company need to be made available to organizations outside of the corporate firewall for use in the new Internet-based services.

Application Adapters available include Siebel, SAP R/3, PeopleSoft, Commerce One, BroadVision, Oracle Applications, JD Edwards and I2. Enterprise and technology Adapters include JAVA (JMS and J2EE), CORBA, COM/DCOM, Cobol, flat files, ODBC (SQL), FTP, EDI, HL7, SWIFT/FIX and XML.

"In our MIDDLEWARESPECTRA analysis, one key to success in both the e-commerce and EAI spaces is selling adapters for applications, which then sell the underlying integration engines. For IBM to sell NEON's extensive adapter portfolio makes perfect commercial sense for customers, IBM and NEON alike: it brings delivery forward as well as reducing risk," said Charles Brett, president, MIDDLEWARESPECTRA.

Adapter libraries are one of the fastest-growing segments of the e-Business-enabling market. IBM and NEON have recently supported customer plans with these libraries for such customers as ADP, Centex Homes, Delta Airlines, First Union Bank, Guidant, Heineken, MetLife, Nabisco, New York Life, POSCO Steel (Korea), Shell Oil, TheCampusHub.com, UPS and many others.
