Is anybody here familiar with any API for the Instinet workstation?

I've been trying to get the top of book data that Instinet announced in a press release some months ago. So far, it is turning out to be vaporware. Apparently they are selling TOB data to large web sites, such as Yahoo, but so far haven't come up with a plan to distribute it more extensively.

Supposedly, it is going to be offered through Reuters+ one of these days. But I don't think they've done the programming yet.

What I really need is a stream of data, similar to Island's ITCH or REDI's RediQuote. I could also use an API similar to Townsend's that allows me to request and advise on a list of stocks.

Does the Instinet workstation have an API that allows third-party programs to get access to data?

They keep telling us "it's a FIX connection". This makes me skeptical, because there is nothing in FIX that handles streaming data. FIX can be used for order entry or for "snap quotes". It can't be used for streaming quotes.

Does the Instinet workstation have streaming quotes? I have to assume that it does, geez. They must use something else in addition to FIX to receive the streaming quotes?

Anyone here familiar with this, and can point me in the right direction?
