PLEASANTON, Calif., and HORSHAM, Pa., Dec. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Ironside Technologies Inc., a leading supplier of sell-side business-to-business electronic commerce solutions for the manufacturing and distribution market, and VerticalNet Markets today jointly announced an agreement to streamline and simplify supplier integration. VerticalNet Markets is a division of VerticalNet, Inc. (Nasdaq: VERT), the Internet's leading business-to-business e-commerce enabler. VerticalNet will co-market the Ironside Network to provide suppliers real-time access and integration into VerticalNet's commerce-enabled communities.
Ironside can provide eligible suppliers real-time access to the Ironside Network within approximately three weeks. Suppliers integrated into the Ironside Network benefit by being directly connected to VerticalNet's trading communities. Buyers benefit by having access to real-time transaction and query capability, including product availability, market-specific pricing and available-to-promise status. This integration complements with VerticalNet's comprehensive order management and fulfillment services, providing buyers and sellers end-to-end commerce capabilities.
"Our customers prefer real-time pricing and availability to transact business on the Web," said Jim Larkey, Vice President of Product Management, VerticalNet Markets. "As one of the industry's leading solutions for marketplace integration, we believe that the Ironside Network provides a powerful competitive advantage within VerticalNet's commerce-enabled communities by offering both buyers and suppliers quick access to the necessary pricing, availability and product information critical in making purchase decisions."
"The value of any marketplace will ultimately be decided by buyers and sellers creating meaningful and reliable online business relationships," said Rod Foster, vice president of the Ironside Network. "VerticalNet is taking aggressive steps toward delivering this capability, leveraging the Ironside Network to connect suppliers with buyers, while driving the type of liquidity that only real-time transaction processing offers. This will lead to a very powerful competitive advantage."
Ironside supplier-centric B2B solutions integrate into a supplier's enterprise business systems (e.g., ERP, ERM, SCM, logistics and legacy), tightly integrating a supplier's operations with various online buying constituencies, including e-marketplaces. This is a competitive advantage for suppliers, ensuring that their online buyers have accurate visibility into the upstream supply chain without any risk of making procurement decisions on the basis of inaccurate supplier information.
The Ironside Network is accessible to any supplier currently running the Ironworks 4.01 or higher product suite. For sellers not running Ironworks, Ironside will provide access for a flat implementation fee and a basic monthly subscription charge.
