So far, similar enough.
"All About My Mother", by Pedro Almoldovar, was an excellent recent import (this summer). It is melodramatic, and has some of Almoldovar's kinks, but it works through superior acting and direction. I like many of his film's, although his best to date was "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown", from the 80s.
If you have an interest in Woody Allen, a documentary, "Wild Man Blues", is a good bet. It is the account of a tour he took with a jazz band through various European cities. Soon Yi is in it, and it gives an insight into their relationship, which is more conventional than one might expect.
I imagine you have seen it, but just in case, see "Being John Malkovitch", one of the kookiest, most original films I have seen......... |
