I still think regardless of what Clinton did, he would have got Arkansas and Tennessee for Al Gore and we wouldn't be here anyway. Clinton's approval ratings are still high, he is a pretty darn good persuader -- they should have just let him go to the Democratic stronghold states so that Al and Joe could concentrate on battleground states. Clinton would have been welcomed in Democratic strongholds and he might have conceivably managed to swing Arkansas and Tennessee to the Democratic column just because he would have tried so hard. Of course, the way he looks at it, the only thing better than having a Gore in the White House would be a Clinton in the White House. This way Hillary has a better shot in 4-8 years since if Al becomes President now, he'll be going for re-election in 4 so she can't go then. By the end of the 2nd term (if any) people would be tired of Democrats in the White House and her job would be harder. This way she might actually have a better shot in 4-8 years! If Bush seriously screws up then Hillary in 4, otherwise 8 years! :)
