BTW, don't know if you enjoyed my cartoon earlier this AM being a neighbor to FL and all...but maybe you can smile at this one...since I know FIRST HAND that Georgia Peaches don't talk like this...
Wise Men
So, here I am in small town South Carolina. There's not much to do here so I sat around watching them put up their annual "Nativity Scene." It was beautiful work showing great skill and talent. One small feature seemed kind of weird though. The three wise men were wearing firemen's helmets. [ Folks here are really friendly so I asked one of the workers.]
He looked at me strangely and said, "Well, now, I heared tell o'you Yankees not going in much for Bible readin' but I never figured you all'd a skipped the part about the wise men!"
I assured him that I HAD read that passage--many times--but did not recall anything about firemen. He pulled out his Bible, ruffled through the pages and finally, giving me a condescending smile, pointed at a verse.
Kindly, he said, "See, it sez right here, ' The three wise man came from afar.' "
