Gottfried, yup ole Greeny gave about as unmistakeable indication as a he possibly could today that he's now in lower the rates mode. Didn't even wait for the FOMC meeting to put the word out. My bet is the process begins in early January - at the latest. He might even give us Christmas present!

The economy is slowing faster than most thought:

The really great news about Fed lowering rates is that every one else can too. Still there are large lag times between when the fed lowers and the economy actually recovers. It may be shortened do to this being a wired world these days, but I expect there is still a substantial debt hangover coming that slows the process down. The Fed is about 2 - 3 months late, but hey, that's better than six months late.

$25 dollar oil and the fed lowering rates - oil patch heaven. If crude can hold $20 - $25 dollars I'll get back in the patch. Late winter early spring may be the best time to re-enter. Just like the Dogster says.
