SonicWALL Targets Enterprise and E-commerce Sites With Enhanced Internet Security Products and Services
New Products Deliver High Availability, Secure Transaction Acceleration and Comprehensive Management
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 5, 2000-- SonicWALL, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNWL - news), the leading provider of Internet security solutions for broadband access customers in the small to medium-size enterprise (SME) sector, today announced its expansion into enterprise and e-commerce markets through the introduction of an enhanced line of enterprise-class Internet security appliances and services.

SonicWALL's enterprise product line includes:
SonicWALL PRO-VX Internet security appliance for integrated access security and security services
SonicWALL Global Management System (GMS) for comprehensive monitoring and management of Internet security appliances, lowering the cost of network ownership
SonicWALL SSL Accelerator Rack (SSL-R) for high performance secure transaction acceleration and offloading for secure servers
SonicWALL Load Balancing Rack (LB-R) for high availability via load balancing of secure Web servers, proxy servers and cache servers.
SonicWALL Pro-VX Internet Security Appliance
The SonicWALL PRO-VX Internet Security Appliance is a rack-mount device that provides a comprehensive Internet security solution by combining ICSA certified firewall protection with high throughput 3DES VPN encryption for up to 1,000 remote users or sites. Support is also provided for value added security services such as virus protection, user authentication and content filtering. Enhancements to the PRO-VX include:
High-Availability: the High Availability option allows two PRO-VX appliances to be configured as a redundant pair, ensuring firewall fault-tolerance for the enterprise.
Comprehensive reporting: SonicWALL ViewPoint is a graphical reporting tool that provides both real-time and historical reports of network activity to allow network administrators to more effectively monitor areas such as VPN and user activity, bandwidth usage and external attacks.
Pricing and Availability: High-Availability and SonicWALL ViewPoint are included standard with the SonicWALL PRO-VX. They are also available as optional upgrades for the SonicWALL PRO Internet Security Appliance. SonicWALL PRO-VX US retail pricing starts at $4,995.
SonicWALL Global Management System
The SonicWALL Global Management System (SonicWALL GMS) is a comprehensive management system that allows up to 1,000 SonicWALL security appliances to be monitored and managed remotely from a single console. Coupled with SonicWALL's broad line of Internet Security Appliances, from the SonicWALL PRO-VX to the SonicWALL TELE2 for broadband-connected telecommuters, SonicWALL GMS provides the management tools necessary to extend a comprehensive security solution across the entire distributed enterprise.
Version 1.1 of SonicWALL GMS has been enhanced to run under Solaris 8, as well as Windows 2000 and Windows NT 4.0.
Pricing and Availability: the upgrade to SonicWALL GMS is available free of charge for existing GMS customers. For new customers, US retail pricing of SonicWALL GMS starts at $4,995.
SonicWALL SSL Acceleration and Offloading
The SonicWALL SSL-R, a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) transaction accelerator for e-commerce sites, is a 19-inch rack mountable appliance that features:
Offloading of all encryption processing from secure Web and e-commerce servers for higher throughput of secure transactions
Support for up to 200 new transactions per second and over 900 sustained sessions per second
Redundant internal power supplies and a fail-over port for resiliency and high availability
Pricing and Availability: SonicWALL SSL-R lists at US $5,995 and will ship by end of December 2000.
SonicWALL High Availability and Load Balancing
The SonicWALL LB-R is a rack mountable load balancing switch that offers high-availability and load balancing for firewalls, Web servers, and caching and proxy servers. Features include:
Four 10/100 Fast Ethernet network ports
Support for up to 4,096 local IP address
Six different load balancing policies
Redundant internal power supplies and a fail-over port for resiliency and high availability
Pricing and Availability: the SonicWALL LB-R will ship in Q1 of 2001 with a US retail price of $4,995.
