Waiting to be seated in a restaurant and watching everyone else get a table. After a period of time passes, it suddenly dawns on you that the reason you are not being seated is because of the color of your skin. (OR maybe you are seated but your food never shows up... OR your food shows up cold after waiting longer than everyone else in the establishment)

Watching others rise in an organization even though you have better skills and work harder. This happens less frequently these days but it still happens far too often, IMO.

kb, I think it's wonderful that your neighbors are opening their homes to the less fortunate, regardless of their background or race. We need to encourage more people in this world to behave like your neighbors.

However, to write off racism as nonexistent in US industry is farcical. We can point to many individuals who have climbed the success ladder in the US. We can attempt to use them as justification that racism has been eliminated but this would be far from the truth.
