Is this way out in the country where there just aren't gas lines, or is there some other reason why? Just curious.

Semi rural. Typically 1-5+ acre lots. Most have oil heat as primary source. Definitely no gas lines. Quite a few burn wood either as a primary or secondary source. I have a coal stove in the family room as a backup. A backup is absolutely necessary. Power is lost quite often. We once had a major snowstorm in early Oct. when the leaves were still on the trees. The heavy wet snow took down hundred of thousands of trees and the power lines along with them. I was without power for 4 1/2 days and many others more than a week. (Oil lamps, candles, cooking on the coal stove) It makes you really wonder how people got along without electricity. I even had to go down to the creek to get a pail of water to be able to flush the toilet. Now that's roughing it.
