Wednesday December 6, 6:33 am Eastern Time Press Release NHC Communications Negotiating Contract With Major ILEC MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 6, 2000--NHC Communications Inc. (TSE: NHC - news) today announced that it has received confirmation from a major incumbent local exchange carrier (ILEC) that, after proper evaluation, it has been awarded the bid as a result of a request for proposal for its ControlPoint(TM) remote controlled cross-connect solution. NHC currently is in negotiations with the major ILEC to conclude an agreement for the provision of an undisclosed number of ControlPoint units to facilitate the deployment, provisioning and maintenance of copper based voice and data lines. Negotiations for the conclusion of contractual agreement are in their final stage.
Under the proposed terms of the agreement, the ILEC would use NHC's ControlPoint to fully automate and remotely manage the physical layer of voice and data cross-connections, such as POTS, T-1/E-1, ISDN and DSL. This will allow the ILEC to streamline its central office and collocation operations and increase the efficiency of service to its customers.
