kas1, I was a LTBH person by rule until this year. i had held 2-3 stocks for 3-5 years. If I had held them through this decline, ALL
of the gains would have been gone.

This must be specific to the stocks that you were holding. As painful as this year has been, most of my stocks were still significantly higher than they were when I purchased them (which was from one to three years ago). For example, my cost on NTAP (purchased in 4/99 and 8/99) is $12.50. My cost on VTSS (purchased 9/98) is $15. My cost on CSCO (purchased 12/98) is $12. They still show great gains through this decline (even before yesterday). Maybe the fact that they are all Gorillas and Kings has something to do with it...
