QuentR,
I really don't know how PC sales are progressing. I am typing this post on a new Presario 7000, but that doesn't mean a lot. I don't know how long you have been gone. CPQ consumer PCs have to be going down as a percentage of total sales per Compaq's plan. The high end machines like Wildfire and Intel servers are what everybody has been counting on in the second half. Compaq market server market share by all reports has grown.

CPQ had a bounce down 11/30 on Gateway's warning, but recovered well before the day was over. MC made positive statements about robust PC sales. Board authorized a $1 billion stock buy back along with the 2 1/2 cent dividend. There is a rumor that Compaq expected a weak fourth quarter for consumer PCs. MC wrote a great letter to employees. I have seen no indication of a possible warning from MC.

IMHO This is a great buying opportunity. CPQ may be past consumer PCs driving it's bottom line.
