Bombardier Inc, Acquisition of Adtranz: The European
Commission Opens Second Phase Review

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--DECEMBER 6, 2000 - 12:27 EST
Bombardier commented today on the decision of
the European Commission to open a phase two review of Bombardier's
proposed acquisition of DaimlerChrysler's subsidiary Adtranz.

"We will continue to work with the European Commission and to
discuss in greater detail the proposed transaction" said Robert E.
Brown, President and CEO, Bombardier Inc. "We have had
constructive discussions so far and we will address concerns the
Commission has and consider appropriate measures to deal with
them."

Added Mr. Brown: "We are confident that the regulatory approval
process of the merger will lead to a positive conclusion and that
the transaction will be finalized, as expected, in the first
quarter of fiscal 2001-2002."

Bombardier Inc., a diversified manufacturing and service company,
is a world leading manufacturer of business jets, regional
aircraft, rail transportation equipment and motorized recreational
products. It is also a provider of financial services and asset
management. The Corporation employs 56,000 people in 12 countries
in North America, Europe and Asia, and more than 90% of its
revenues are generated outside Canada. Bombardier's revenues for
its fiscal year ended Jan. 31, 2000 totalled $13.6 billion.
