I think you just outlined the worst case scenario, not the most likely scenario. And it is that irrationallity that I fear. Your scenario could easily be adopted by the market when the price cuts come and when (if) INTC lowers 2001 guidance.

In the real world, however. Itanium really doesn't matter, it is not significant and Xeon target markets still have a lot of growth potential. P4 will be a savior to average ASP's as INTC can afford to maintain high prices at the 1.5+ end of the market helping to offset lower prices at the <1.0 range.

When you combine this information with the shift to notebooks (from desktops) and the communication businesses that INTC has, they are well positioned to maintain high levels of profitability even in a weak environment (after inventory correction is complete which could be a one time hit).

I am sorry you lost money on AMD and I hope you can make it back someplace else. I also hope my INTC decisions don't prove to be fatal to me. Time will tell..
