I am astounded that you would put the writings of Ingersoll against the selective and pathetic defenses of Holden. Earl Doherty roundly trounced his silly defenses in other debates.
Let me give you an example which epitomizes his whole article. Surely, you do not find this to be a compelling defense against Ingersoll's observations on God? Surely, Greg, you do not. Do you think this is an adequate response? Do you REALLY?? The bolding of Holding's response to Ingersoll is mine. Do you not read these nuts before you post them?? Or do you agree with what he said about these kids??
Must we believe, in order to be good and tender fathers and mothers, that because some "little children" mocked at an old man with a bald head, God -- the same God who said, "Suffer little children to come unto me" -- sent two she-bears out of the wood and tare forty-two of these babes? Think of the mothers that watched and waited for their children. Think of the wailing when these mangled ones were found, when they were brought back and pressed to the breasts of weeping women. What an amiable gentleman Mr. Elisha must have been.
Again, we've dealt with this before -- Ingersoll plays the emotional card of wailing mothers well enough, but the fact is that there probably were not any -- and that these kids were old enough to know better.
This Mr. Holding must be one son of a bitch. Thanks, Greg, but Ingersoll had more compassion while brushing his teeth, than this fella probably ever experienced. |
