JDN,

Meanwhile BESIDES APPLE what in the hell is going on with INTC. Did they warn? Is their any truth to that Smith Barney stuff?

Although I have not seen the original comment, my interpretation is that Q4 vs. other quarter is weaker this year than in any year in a decade. But Barrett said that it will be a record quarter (meaning higher than Q3). The 2 statement combined (if both true) mean that Q4 will be higher than Q3, but higher by lower percentage than other years.

What all this probably means is that the seasonality of the consumer market is slowly going away, and the consumer market will be more even, just like the corporate market. The evidence for that is, if you recall, the in the earlier quarters of this year, boxmakers reported stronger than expected consumer sales (for Q1 - Q3) and now weaker than expected for Q4.

In the long run, more even sales throughout the year (instead of spike in Q4, and decline in Q1, Q2) are IMO a positive development for CPU manufacturers in the long term.

Joe
