Of course SiF4 is a gas. CF4 (Freon) is a gas, and UF6 is a gas. The reason why centrifuges works is that mass differences are exacerabated when under high accelerations. The formulas for acceleration in centrifuges is a = (2*pi*Hz)^2*r where a is acceleration in meters per second squared, Hz is the rotational speed of the gas in cycles per second (rpm / 60), and r is the radius in meters which is derived from the more recognizable a = v^2/r. Thus as you can see high rpms are very desirable even if you have to decrease the radius. Gas centrifuges usually suspend a long thin cylinder with magnetic levitation and spin it using a simple induction motor windings being fed with a three phase high frequency AC oscillator. Since there are no bearings to wear out, the cylinder can spin very fast (60 to 100K rpm is not uncommon). Strategically placed tubes through the upper end insert the gas to be spun in and extract the high and low massed gases resulting. A football field sized room of these should produce gas in the range of a ton per day range (about 4000 wafers) depending on how pure you want. Thus, two or three plants of that size could supply the entire needs of both AMD and Intel.
