Explanation for recent resignations: American Express, a major shareholder in Stillwater forced the resignation of three directors, calling for a new direction in the company's leadership. All had ties to Manville Corp, a former partner in the mine. American Express figures the new people are better suited to carry Stillwater to its next stage of growth.
