I think your analysis actually proves my point. The reason Fox is doing so well in the ratings is because it is decidedly right-wing, and is capitalizing on the same people who listen to Limbo. There is no positive correlation between "balanced reporting" and ratings. For instance, if I wanted to present a "fair and balanced" afternoon AM radio talk show to go up against Limbo on the right and someone like him on the left, I'd get blown out of the water ratings-wise. People don't listen to radio anymore for the "straight story." They listen to AM radio to reinforce their political leanings. Sadly, TV is now following the course of AM radio. The good news is that if Bush becomes president, right-wing media appeal will diminish.
