so GE has been dumping its PCB's everywhere...which is no big surprise, since if they do it in one place, why not in others?

i'm not very confident that any particular party's political clout has anything to do with it. imo the mainstream parties are both in corporate America's pocket, protestations to the contrary notwithstanding. it seems more likely to me that the bigger concentration of people in NYC is the culprit...more protest power, more votes to worry about. who cares about the handful of inhabitants of Rome? they are probably less important in an election than the campaign contributions of big business....it's as simple as that.

always think about the most cynical, cold-hearted calculation when asking why political clout is used for something (even if the cause seems worthy) and there's your explanation.
