Hey Guys & Gals... Long time no post!

I have been out of the markets for about a year and used to be with Scotia (ICK ICK ICK). I am getting back into things and I have narrowed down my choices for a discount/on-line broker to BMO & Royal... I have read about a 1000 posts here (thanks everyone) and the reports presented by Gomez, Globe & Mail and Canadian Business. (Love the stuff on the Daytrading Psychology thread too).

BMO is less expensive because they do not go up to $0.03/share until the $5 level and Royal jumps at $2. I expect to be doing the bulk of my trades between the $1.00 and $10.00 range, so that extra $0.01/share between $2 and $5 is important. I also plan only to trade Canadian Equities and am looking at a combination strategy of momentum and position trading. Start off slowly again and go from there...

Where BMO falls down, apparently, is in Research... My question to the thread is...

How useful is the research that is found on these brokerage sites - especially Royal. How useful is ANY of that research when making daytrading or short term trading decisions? It would seem to me that that kind of research would be more useful for the LT trader.

It comes down to those two and cost vs. research for me. I have heard that both offer good service and, more importantly, I have not heard a lot of you saying much negative about either (not like TD & ETrade). Fast trade execution and confirmations are vital.

I would appreciate any input on either services.

TIA

A

PS... can someone please tell me how to add a "gif" to my SI Profile? :-)
