Some words of wisdom on the thread tonight.

Where's Mr. Fun?

Mr. Fun, whose posts on Telecom I so enjoyed because of his seeming depth of knowledge, and who was posting on a monthly or bimonthly basis, hasn't posted since August 18th. His profile notes that he graduated from MIT, with degrees in MSEE and an MBA. I used to cross-post his messages here last year because I owned LU, and because of their relevance to the LU-Cisco battles.......Nortel was so lowly as to not merit mention. <g>

Needless to say, Lindy warned us of Lu's old economy ways, and I sold out 11-12 months ago. I put it into JDSU, which I don't regret, since it is down far less than LU is this year, and since I think its prospects will be far brighter over the long haul. Lindy, the Home Improvement guy, also thought Fun, the telecom analyst/fund manager, was off base.
The Home Improvement guy was right. <g>

Texster says, "I continue to believe, therefore, that the day-to-day discussions on this thread are as important to our success as the manual itself."

I agree, only more so. I think the daily discussions, over months, are more valuable than the manual. Over that time period, I think the participant not only gets the gist of the manual, but gets the refinements in real time to the underlying tenets of Moore's thesis. Also, the participant conveniently misses out on the Godzilla BS, which was never substantiated by Moore, and which we sniffed out as BS (sort of like a hardback book, with nothing between the covers).

Speaking of BS, makes one wonder about the notion of "Price to vision"; is this a legitimately useful ratio, as Moore suggested this past year?

BTW, so as not to confuse, I think the active participant should BOTH read the manuals, and participate here, in order to get the most out of this endeavor. In fact, I think the real smart ones, re-read the manuals several times. The less smart ones just wimp out and use page points. <g>
