First Florida's legislators ... then some day the Pentagon?

Once Florida's legislature votes to certify its own slate of electors, that opens the door for every other backwater state legislature in the country to do likewise henceforth if they don't like the way the people in their state voted.

After we open this door, we won't be able to close it.

Perhaps 16 or 24 years down the road a candidate will win the presidency based on a platform of shrinking the military by 75 percent.

Would it be a "stretch of the imagination" to envision the generals and admirals saying, no, this election has been nullified in the interests of the country, and the Joint Chiefs of Staff will assume the presidency?

Once we take the election out of the hands of the people, there's no turning back.

We are on the road to becoming a second-rate banana republic in which democracy takes a back seat to military might ... or other political forces.

Can't happen, you say? Of course it can. It's not as far-fetched as some might think.
