Do you interpret this lambda switching tecnology to mean AVNX directly or all there others implied??

I am no optical engineer, just a lawyer/MBA. But I interpret this to be part of the value chain coming into existence because of the technologies developed by AVNX and Corvis, and certainly others, that enable these multiple light streams onto one piece of fiber. Of all the companies who have developed enabling technology like this AVNX's appears to be way, way, out in front, and better yet, more cost-effective than alternatives.

I'd have to say Bookham like silicon technology will be cheaper, but I don't think it will be nearly as capable.

So to me it is like comparing QCOM vs. GSM or TDMA before the Ericson settlement, and knowing that we are heading into a a very data intensive 3G world. With AVNX we can see the players moving to an all or mostly all optical network in which greater and greater efficiencies in fiber utilization, at better and better costs will be necessary. At this time it looks like AVNX is the lead player to provide this technology (and its supporting components). Certainly by no means is the standard set, but AVNX does have IP on its tech.

So a nice shiny pebble with the capability to do for fiber what QCOM does for wireless in efficiency. Whether or not AVNX's technology will be as inviolable as QCOM's is still a matter up in the air.
