I guess we are simply of different mindsets -- I see our (humans) living here as creating a number of irreversible changes even under the most ideal conditions and while I think we should be "good stewards" -- no amount of good stewardship can change that reality ...

When I look at expenditures such as the 110 M spent at times beach -- I think the money would be better spent to help some current biz with technology to do things to reduce impacts of current production -- incinerating tons of earth doesn't seem particularly smart to me -- this is my beef -- what is the right approach to spend government monies -- I think they are largely wasted. Dredging the Hudson would be a similar waste ...secretly I think the EPA wants to punish, not do something productive and this seems popular with some in the public -- "bastards, make 'em pay"

You say, "of course they knew what they were doing" because you have a picture in your mind of someone sneaking up in the night and dumping cans of stuff with skull and crossed bones into the river ... such is the perception of folks who don't work in industry ...
