Just came across an interesting press release from TRW at:

Apparently they have developed an Indium Phosphide IC that could prove to be less costly to produce and possess superior operating characteristics as compared to GaAs.

I don't work in the industry and I am by no means a "Rocket Scientist." Perhaps one of the more knowledgable contributors to this thread could comment upon the effect InP might have on GaAs companies in the near and long term.
