Graphco Technologies, Inc. and Informix Software, Ltd. Announce Strategic Marketing Alliance NEWTOWN, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 7, 2000--Graphco Technologies, Inc. (G-TEC(TM)), a leading developer of technology and solutions for biometric authentication, secure access, and expert information-sharing systems, announced today that they have entered into a Strategic Marketing Alliance with Informix(R) Software Limited, the database company, a subsidiary of Informix(R) Corporation (Nasdaq:IFMX). The alliance will provide leverage for the entry of G-TEC's products into European, Middle-Eastern and African law enforcement contracts. The Strategic Marketing Alliance provides for cross-promotional opportunities that include both marketing and joint sales opportunities.
"Twenty years of excellence in database-management product and technology makes Informix solutions an excellent partner for G-TEC secure information sharing products and services for government, military, and public and private law enforcement. Informix solutions are a superb fit for the Bastille(R), G-TEC's secure collaborative law enforcement case management system, and FaceTrac(TM), G-TEC's facial recognition biometric solution," said Cristian Ivanescu, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of G-TEC. "Informix technologies provide the military, local, regional and national law enforcement customers of the Bastille and FaceTrac with a superior combination of performance reliability and scalability."
G-TEC's criminal intelligence information sharing system, the Bastille(R), utilizes patent-pending technology to provide the most advanced and secure communications for criminal case information management. The Bastille allows for highly secured, real-time sharing of investigation and intelligence information between agencies on a local, regional, national and international basis. The Bastille also provides corporate customers with solutions for personnel security and physical asset protection. Sophisticated data encryption and smart card technology ensure that information is accessible only to those with the proper clearance. Powerful retrieval systems permit extensive search capabilities including text, image, profile, keyword and synonym search criteria. This allows the end-user and authorized collaborators to track suspicious activity, suspects, gang members and missing people. The Bastille's virtual private network (VPN) provides law enforcement agencies with a secure forum to communicate with individuals, specific groups or entire agencies. The Bastille system provides links to existing computer systems and other databases, and improves operational efficiency among law enforcement and security agencies by significantly reducing the amount of time that officers require for case research, collaboration and resolution.
"Criminal activities are not restricted by geographical boundaries so intelligence on these activities should not be limited either," said Andy Cooke, Northern European sales operations director at Informix Software. "Efficient investigation is best achieved by having all the relevant information on your crimes, cases, suspects, addresses, vehicles and other relevant information available at the touch of a button. This is what the combination of the two software companies - Graphco and Informix Software - will accomplish."
The Bastille Product Family includes FaceTrac(TM) and VoicePass(R). FaceTrac(TM) is a broadly featured, readily customized, facial recognition software system that can be deployed across a variety of scalable platforms. The FaceTrac core facial recognition technology provides the ability to locate faces, to build `face print' templates and to recognize matches to images stored in a database. When integrated with the Bastille Law Enforcement Database, FaceTrac allows rapid search, comparison and identification of suspect facial photos within the database. FaceTrac may be used for surveillance with multiple locations networked to a high capacity site such as The Bastille, for analysis and system-search results. Alternatively, G-TEC offers FaceTrac as a single site system that can be integrated with custom designed database elements and search result notifications, for applications such as monitoring access to secure areas.
VoicePass is a voice pattern recognition biometric technology, that operates by comparing a person's actual speech to his/her stored voice pattern. VoicePass is text independent and therefore does not require the speaker to utter a prescribed phrase or password. Because VoicePass technology compresses the stored voiceprint, it requires a uniquely small amount of memory.
Informix Software is currently showcasing G-TEC's Bastille(R), as a robust example of Informix database capabilities at various trade shows and market events around the world.
