I don't think your impression of how the Bible we have today came into it's current form is accurate. The documentary evidence for the Bible is far more extensive that any other ancient manuscripts. Biblical scholars are constantly comparing one manuscript against another older one in order to ascertain what the most accurate reading should be. As far as the RC Church is concerned while I would disagree with some of their cardinal doctrines, that disagreement is primarily because they have elevated unfounded (imo) traditions above what is taught in the Bible. One thing they have not done is to change any biblical texts to support themselves. The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls gave scholars the opportunity to move the tape back a thousand years to examine the Old Testament documents, and their fidelity with our current Bibles simply disproves what some have claimed, namely that the texts have been changed for theological purposes. As far as preaching goes, I thought we were discussing Truth and it's implications. If you no longer wish to, that remains your prerogative.
Have a good day.
Greg.
