Odds Ratios... I read the link. I assume that "I want to stamp out that story" refers to the story that H, A and L are letters left-adjacent to I, B and M. Clark states that odds of that specific combination are 263 to 1. I do not think this is correct. Lets do the math. Lets treat it as a combinatorial issue without replacement. How many unique combinations of three letters are there? If you pick one letter, that leaves 25, so there are 26 X 25 combinations of two letters. That leaves 24. So the total universe of all 3 letter unique combos are 26 X 25 X 24 or 15,600. The odds of getting the 3 letters left-adjacent to I/B/M is 15,600 to 1. Doc Stone
