SPEAKING UP AND KEEPING QUIET
Fuming over cell phone disruptions, stage actor Kevin Kline plotted a revenge that didn't quite come off. "The plays of Chekhov are known for their pregnant silences," he says in the latest issue of Vogue, "but not with today's audiences."
One night during a production of "Ivanov" at Lincoln Center in New York, Kline put a cell phone in his pocket. Had a call interrupted his performance, his plan was to whip out his own phone, hold it to his ear, and say, "Oh, not mine."
Turned out he never had a chance to do the deed, as all through the house, there was quiet that night. |
