Hi Nilesh - even though I am very long on CPQ, I too agree it should say something if it knows anything materially impacting the company ASAP. I don't know if CPQ has the habit of doing that and it is mgt's discretion to play this kind of game or not. However, I think CPQ would be in serious trouble if it didn't know how business was shaping up 6 weeks in advance. I don't believe that is the case, but it certainly helps if it keeps investing in mgt reporting fctn so it will not get caught flat footed.
Again, I do think it is to LT investor's benefits to keep expectation in check. OTOH, MC needs also to project [and hope it is of substance] that he knows what is going on with the co and of the industry anytime and anywhere. I don't mean he should micro manage, but information is king. The street loves a winner, while MC should manage expectation, he should also show the street he is a strong leader. A strong leader is decisive, maybe with a little edge. Sure, if this is not MC's personality, no sense of faking it. However, at the very least, tell the street he is not a weak leader!
Btw, CPQ has initiated a hedging pgm on Euro. So, I think people should not expect too much from the recent strength of the Euro
