If this strategy works Intel will be in a world of pain and AMD will be able to sell all produced CPUs this quarter (i.e. up to 9 million).

However, I see a very negative impact on ASPs. OEMs are getting the 1.2 GHz parts probably for under $200 now. Intel is charging for their 1.5 GHz P4s with similar performance more than double the price (for OEMs; customers pay, of course, much more). Apparently AMD tries to undercut them in the high-end -- the "low end" Duron and Athlon prices stayed very firm.

BTW, shipments for 1.2 GHz Athlons must have also increased much. For the first time since the release I saw them today in Germany (for ca. $350).
