Some people have also reported seeing LCD displays at the point of sale that cycle through different comments on Zicam, one of which says clinically proven to reduce the duration of cold symptoms by 75%, or something to that effect

I saw one of those POS displays about two weeks ago at my local Genovese (owned by Eckard). It cycled through 2-3 messages, including the 75% claim. The shelf above it was stocked with two rows of Zicam Allergy Relief crammed in so tightly that the boxes were literally falling off the shelf. Next to it was one mostly empty row containing 4 boxes of the Zicam cold remedy.

I had meant to go back and check it, and after you jogged my memory today I did. The POS display was gone, and there was one beaten up box of the cold remedy left on the shelf. (It's possible that there was a restock and depletion, but I'd say that's pretty unlikely.) The allergy relief was as before. This is only one minor data point, but it still should trouble GUMM shareholders. Why spend money on a POS display and then fail to follow through and keep the shelf stocked? Good companies do not let things like that happen. Also, what is all that Zicam allergy relief doing on the shelf? Cynics might say that some channel stuffing went on at the end of allergy season.
