hcm1943 no longer a "registered" msft program That's what happened. When you downloaded that particular program it assigned itself to be your default jpeg viewer. When it became non-functional you had no program assigned to open these file types and windows was just asking you which one you would like to use in the future. By placing a checkmark in the box in the lower part of the open with window you will force the program you choose to be your default....until you download a viewer that steals the file association again. tc :-)
