You are right that the CEO does not perform calculations. But in making projections, the assumptions require executive decisions and inputs. There will be dozens of conflicting opinions on what assumptions should go into the projections, and the CEO or some other senior executive has to digest the conflicting estimates, and issue the marching orders to the army of accountants.

In any case Craig should not have repeated the old guidance until this issue was sorted out. Is there a legal liability in this case ?
