Obviously not. The context of the discussion is an acrimonious political campaign where everyone is slinging it. And when all is said and done, I'd rather have an intelligent President who is working towards goals that I want rather than a stupid mumbling one who isn't. And if the ammunition used to discredit my favored candidate is a focus on some unimportant statements that could easily have been honest mistakes and labeling them "lies", well yes -- I would say truth is overrated. The difference is that I don't think the lies were intentional, nor do I think they were material to anything substantive.

On the other hand, I do think Bush's "compassionate conservatism" is a bald faced lie to get the Presidency at any cost! :)
